Rules and Regulations

Process:

Each participant will chant two hymns; the first being their choice and the second by random selection.
Participants will then recite the memorization selected for their age group.
The Choir Group must have a minimum of 2 participants who will also chant two hymns in the same manner as the previous groups.
Please be aware that each participant MUST abide by the assigned age for their group; otherwise, their scores will be disqualified.
- The Choir Group has no age limitations.

Grading

In order to maintain grading integrity, judges are required to review and assess the hymns using the sources provided by The Competition. Judging should be based solely on those recordings, and points will be deducted for hymns chanted following a different source.
- The recordings can be accessed by selecting the hymns (in the Coptic font and English hyperlinks) from the distribution charts.

Participants will be judged on reverence and spirituality. This requires understanding the content of their hymns/memorization and demonstrating respect.
- For example, participants will be evaluated based on their demonstration of reverence, including appropriate use of the sign of the Cross, maintaining solemnity by refraining from laughter during chanting, and other similar behaviors.

Format

Groups 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5:
- Hymn 1: 40 points
  - Accuracy and mastery of tune - 15
  - Style, confidence, and tempo - 10
  - Pronunciation and clarity - 10
  - Reverence and spirituality - 5
- Hymn 2: 40 points
  - Accuracy and mastery of tune - 15
  - Style, confidence, and tempo - 10
  - Pronunciation and clarity - 10
  - Reverence and spirituality - 5
- Memorization: 20 points
  - Accuracy - 10
  - Clarity - 5
  - Confidence - 5

Choir Group:
- Hymn 1: 50 points
  - Accuracy and mastery of tune - 10
  - Style, confidence, and tempo - 10
  - Pronunciation and clarity - 10
  - Unison - 10
  - Harmony and overall sound - 10
- Hymn 2: 50 points
  - Accuracy and mastery of tune - 10
  - Style, confidence, and tempo - 10
  - Pronunciation and clarity - 10
  - Unison - 10
  - Harmony and overall sound - 10
